ANGELENOS LIVED IT UP FOR A GOOD CAUSE AT “LA VIDA SAKE”

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 22, 2008) – Over 800 guests packed “La Vida Sake”, the Little Tokyo Service Center’s (LTSC) third annual sake and food tasting fundraiser and awards gala. The sold-out event blazed into the Petersen Automotive Museum’s “La Vida Lowrider” exhibit, an homage to the Los Angeles lowrider scene.

Guests enjoyed finely crafted Jizake from renowned sake breweries in Northern Japan generously provided by Mutual Trading Co. Guests also cruised over to some of L.A.’s top restaurants (Feast from the East, Gyu-Kaku, Japon Bistro, Maison Akira, Maru Sushi, Mishima, Restaurant Oiwake, Shojin, Starbucks, Tokyo Table, Warung Café, and Water Grill) for samples of their tasty fare amidst the candy painted lowriders and other cars.

During the VIP reception, Chef Akira Hirose of Maison Akira in Pasadena was honored with the “Fu Re Ai” Award in recognition of his community involvement.  He has dedicated a great deal of time and energy to LTSC and other community based organizations for over 12 years.

"I know I should eat some humble pie, but I can't help feeling a little sense of pride when people have told me that our Sake & Food Tasting is the best fundraiser of the year!  We think so too, especially because not only is it a lot of fun, but it also raises a lot of funds for our agency.  Since we are no longer putting on the LA Tofu Festival, this event is now our main fundraiser. Thanks to those that attended and we hope to see you again next year!", says Bill Watanabe, Executive Director of LTSC.

LTSC Community Development Corporation is a non-profit community-based organization, which has been providing services for over 29 years to the greater Los Angeles community. Programs include but are not limited to: assistance for victims of domestic violence, support groups, child abuse and neglect outreach, emergency food and shelter assistance, affordable housing, and community redevelopment.
