Youth Services

Youth ServicesOur Youth Services serve over 300 youth with an array of services, including after school education and enrichment, a mentoring program linking youth to UCLA student volunteers, parental outreach, sports tournaments, arts education, and computer education. The programs are culturally and linguistically sensitive; they not only help individuals to achieve their full potential, but forge bonds between the diverse youth population who are vital to the future of Los Angeles.

Ongoing programs include the Aratani After School Program at Casa Heiwa and the Casa Heiwa Angelina Mentoring Program (CHAMPs).
Cultural Education

Cultural EducationOur cultural heritage education programs are centered around sharing and celebrating the culture, history and contributions of the Japanese American community with all who are interested. They are collaborative efforts with a variety of organizations throughout the Japanese American community.

As part of the Ties That Bind group, LTSC helps run Camp Musubi, a weeklong Nikkei heritage camp for middle schoolers. For more information about Camp Musubi, which takes place annually in Little Tokyo during August, please visit www.campmusubi.org.

We also coordinate the Nikkei Community Internship (NCI), a program of the California Japanese American Community Leadership Council. NCI is a statewide summer program to develop the next generation of Nikkei community leaders through placements at community-based organizations. For more information about NCI, click here.
