Neighborhood Services

Neighborhood Services. -- LTSC staff interprets for residents at a tenant meeting.

LTSC has assisted Los Angeles City residents in Little Tokyo and surrounding neighborhoods since 2000. Social workers provide residents with services tailored to enhance their personal and economic growth as they move toward self-sufficiency. We also provide job seekers with valuable information such as assistance in writing a resume and preparing for an interview.

In particular, the tenants at Casa Heiwa and Angelina Apartments-two of LTSC CDC's affordable housing complexes-are offered academic and socially enriching programs for both children and adults. Tenant councils also give residents a voice in the management of their buildings.

Little Tokyo Service Center assists families across Los Angeles County through the work of both our staff and our many trained volunteers. Through the Nikkei Family Counseling Program and Neighborhood Action Program, we have touched the lives of over 10,000 persons. We continue to open our doors to assist anyone in need.

Neighborhood Action Program (NAP)

NAP has assisted Los Angeles City residents since its inception in 2000. NAP provides residents with services tailored to enhance their personal and economic growth as they move toward self-sufficiency. We provide case management and general information and referrals to other agencies on a wide variety of topics such as consumer affairs, financial management, government benefits, employment and emergency assistance. In order to be eligible for this program, individuals must be low-income, under the age of 60 and live in designated service codes in Los Angeles.

Job Assistance

Clients seeking job assistance receive not only valuable information and resources but also encouragement for an often discouraging place to be. Unemployment as well as getting out of a job that's not financially or emotionally satisfying can be frustrating. We provide seekers with such necessary tools as job leads, resume assistance, referrals to centers to utilize computers and fax machines, a quiet place to make a phone call, and job development resources.

Tenant Services

Tenant services at Casa Heiwa and Angelina Apartments, two of LTSC CDC's affordable housing complexes, offer academic and socially enriching programs to both children and adults. Services for children and youth include onsite preschools with Head Start programs, afterschool tutoring, technology programs, a mentoring program that pairs children with UCLA student volunteers, and many other activities. Services for adults include family literacy programs, one-on-one career counseling, and job placement assistance. Tenant councils also give residents a voice in the management of their building.
