A Tour 10 Years in the Making

Ten years ago, this ad hoc group composed of local leaders, nonprofits, and small business owners first met to discuss the idea of a community-driven project in place of a surface parking lot on the corner of Temple and Judge John Aiso St.

Now in 2026, we were able to give them a sneak peek at the nearly completed Go For Broke Plaza & First Street North Residences, their vision come to life! Once it receives its finishing touches, this collaborative vision between LTSC and Go For Broke National Education Center will provide 248 units of affordable housing (with 80 set aside for unhoused people living with HIV/AIDS and homeless veterans), 40,000 square feet of retail space prioritizing local small businesses and community-based nonprofit and cultural institutions, and green public spaces housing the Go For Broke monument.

The grand opening of Go For Broke Plaza & First Street North Residences is coming in 2027! In the meantime, familiarize yourself with this project that will grow Little Tokyo’s borders for the first time in decades:

We need your help!

As is LTSC tradition, we’re putting together welcome baskets for new affordable housing residents! If you work for a company looking for a great volunteer opportunity to assemble baskets, contact us at communications@ltsc.orgcreate new email.
