A Special Thank You to the Ahmanson Foundation

LTSC purchased the Daimaru Hotel on Little Tokyo’s historic First Street to save the affordable housing it provides. With the support of opens in a new windowThe Ahmanson Foundation, LTSC will be able to continue to preserve this invaluable neighborhood asset for the long term.

Historically, the Daimaru Hotel has been a home for low-income restaurant, retail and service workers in the neighborhood. The building was built in 1905 and a lot of the plumbing is original and, unfortunately, failing. In addition to the apartments, the building provides retail space to community-serving small businesses. Because they are on the ground level they suffer the most when there are leaks, clogs and flooding. With the generous support of The Ahmanson
Foundation LTSC will be completing a major repair project to fix the plumbing for the residents and businesses. LTSC thanks The Ahmanson Foundation for helping us preserve affordable housing in Little Tokyo and maintain the history and culture of our treasured neighborhood.
