Okaeri Voices Video Screening and Panel: “We Choose Love”

Join Okaeri on Saturday June 6, 1:00PM at Faith United Methodist Church for a special premiere screening of Glenn and Karen Murakami’s Okaeri Voices video: “We Choose Love” where they share their journey as Japanese american parents of two gay sons.

Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion with the Murakami family: Glenn, Karen, Derek, Kyle, and Zach!

Okaeri Voices, started in 2018, is an archival video program showcasing the voices of LGBTQ+ Nikkei, parents, and allies. The program has two branches: (1) the 60+ branch, which focuses on capturing the stories of pioneers and leaders in the Nikkei LGBTQ+ community over the age of 60; and (2) NextGen, which focuses on dialogue between younger LGBTQ+ Nikkei on topics of identity, acceptance, and community.
