04 Mar Leaders of Tomorrow: Meet Elise Logan
Last year, the resident services team launched the Youth Leadership Pipeline Internship program to benefit teens in our buildings. The internship provides opportunities to build their leadership skills while mentoring youth in our Mi CASA after school program.
Meet Elise Logan, one of the interns in our Youth Leadership Pipeline Internship! Elise is currently a sophomore in high school and has been living at Casa Heiwa her whole life. She’s been involved with CHAMPs (Casa Heiwa & Angelina Mentoring Program) and the after school teen groups at Mi CASA. LTSC sat down with Elise to learn more about her experience as one of the first interns in our brand new internship program.
How did you find out about the internship? Why did you apply?
I found out about this internship from a flier in my building and I thought it could be a really good opportunity for me to build community and be able to help people.
What do you hope to get out of this internship?
Get out of my nervous phase when I meet new people and become a better person.
What are some changes in the community that you hope to see in the future?
I hope to see more people helping the environment around their community.
What are some of your personal goals for the future? How will this internship help you get there?
A personal goal for me is being able to help more people and the internship is helping with that because I’m able to help the kids during the after school program.
How has your experience as an intern been thus far?
Being an intern is really fun and it teaches you a lot.
Would you recommend this internship to others?
I would recommend this internship to other people so they can have an opportunity to see how fun it is to help people.
As our first cohort of interns wrap up their time with the program, LTSC is excited to announce that applications for the second cohort of the internship program will be released soon! For more information, head to https://www.ltsc.org/youth-leadership-pipeline-internship/
