Main Electric Sparks Joy with Meal Distribution Event in Partnership with LTSC
Gearing up for the giving season, LTSC partnered with Main Electric on November 21 ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday to provide meals and supplies to LTSC residents. This partnership is Main Electric’s most recent philanthropic venture as part of their larger company-wide initiative called Main Cares which is geared towards giving back to their community. And fortunately for LTSC residents, this neighborhood, it seems, holds special meaning to them.
“Our headquarters are in Santa Ana… [but] the name Main Electric comes from our core, very first location which was on Main Street in Downtown Los Angeles. The root of our company is Downtown LA,” said Digital Sales and Marketing representative, Chris Smith, of their choice in event location.
The event was held at LTSC’s Terasaki Budokan where staff and volunteers organized by Nancy Alcaraz, LTSC’s Director of Resident Services, assisted with the distribution of blankets, backpacks and socks while the Cali Caribbean food truck provided 300 meals to residents over the course of the early afternoon. When asked about the motivation behind hosting events such as this, Smith insisted on the importance of companies giving back to their communities in any capacity, largely echoing LTSC’s mission to provide support to those in need.
“It’s more than just the bottom line. There’s more than just money, it’s the feeling you get when you see people benefit from what you can provide them,” Smith shared. As residents arrived to pick up their care packages, kids excitedly selected their favorite color backpacks, seniors admired the texture of the fleece blankets and moms pragmatically tucked meals away for easy carrying. Especially around the holidays, compassionate gestures like this event provide a moment of relief and care for our residents, strengthening our sense of community.
Although Main Electric is an electrical supply distributor, the support of companies such as theirs for organizations like LTSC ensure that our local communities are not overlooked or forgotten in favor of profit. That, Smith believes, is what sets them apart and why other businesses considering getting involved and giving back shouldn’t hesitate.
“We want to be more than just a business. We want to be something that people recognize. Not just for corporate money and operations. We want to be someone that inspires other companies to do good as well.”
